Madison Heights, VA – The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce the arrival of our new Squad Truck, also known as Squad 21 (S21). This new piece of equipment has been years in the making and will significantly enhance our response capabilities for motor vehicle accidents, car fires, technical rescues, and structure fires.
The new truck is equipped with a powerful Cummins engine producing 605 horsepower and features the largest water pump of any apparatus in our fleet—a Hale pump capable of delivering 2,000 gallons per minute. Custom mounts inside the cabinets help organize all the equipment we carry, with room for future growth. This apparatus will replace our current rescue truck.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the members of the truck committee—Captain S. Daniel, Captain D. Campbell, Captain K. Miller, Sr. Firefighter J. Metz, Sr. Firefighter C. Esposito, and Captain J. Ayers from Amherst County Fire & EMS—who worked tirelessly to ensure the manufacturer, Sutphen, built this truck to meet our needs. We also want to thank Amherst County Fire & EMS and the Amherst County Board of Supervisors for their continued support.
Finally, we are deeply grateful to our community. Your donations have been instrumental in purchasing the life-saving equipment needed to outfit this new truck. While a few small items still need to be completed, we plan to put this new truck into service very shortly. Stay tuned for future updates. |
