Amherst, VA – February 8, 2025 – The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department's Engine 23 responded to a mutual aid call for a reported structure fire at the McDonald's located in Amherst. Amherst County Fire and EMS 806 was first arriving on scene.

Upon arrival, ACFR 806 established command and reported no active fire but noted a light smoke condition inside the structure. Amherst Chief 1 arrived on scene moments later and command was transferred. Engine 23 arrived and provided additional manpower to assist in locating the source of the smoke and odor.

After a thorough investigation, command determined that there was no imminent threat to the structure. Consequently, Engine 23 was placed back in service.
