The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind the community that a burn ban will be in effect in the Commonwealth of Virginia from February 15th through April 30th. During this period, vegetation is at its driest, coupled with higher winds and very low humidity, wildfires can get out of control very quickly. There are no exceptions to the burn ban including snow or rain covered ground.

Burning is only permitted after 4:00 PM in limited circumstances during these dates. Wildfires can be devastating in this area, requiring significant resources to control and potentially delaying responses to other emergencies.

Please adhere to the burn ban. You could potentially face up to $500.00 in fines.
