Madison Heights, VA – On March 5, 2024, at approximately 10:33 PM, the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department responded to a tractor trailer rollover on the 29 South Bypass. Engine 21, in coordination with Amherst County Fire EMS and the Amherst County Sheriff's Office, arrived on the scene to find an 18-wheeler on its side over an embankment.

The driver of the vehicle was able to self-extricate and was found to be uninjured. Fire personnel assessed the area and determined that there were no fire or environmental hazards present. The fire department remained on the scene until the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) arrived to shut down the right lane.
