Statement: I chose to become a Firefighter after joining the Emergency Response Team at BWX Technologies. Thru all the training received on the team, I made the decision to further utilize the training and help the citizens of Amherst County. The reward is knowing that you made a difference in a life during an emergency. Time, Commitment, Dedication, and the ability to balance between the three as a volunteer requires a Passion, and Desire to serve others. A volunteer is not a paid profession, but an unselfish act of knowing you are ready to respond to someone in need inside and outside the department. A firefighter must always train, put forth effort and care about each and every situation .
