The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of South Amherst Highway and Dixie Airport Road at 12:20 PM this afternoon. Three individuals were injured in the accident.

Responding units included Engine 23, Rescue 21, Chief 2, Amherst County Fire EMS, Amherst County Sheriff, and Virginia State Police. One vehicle required the use of a Hurst Spreader to open the driver's side door. Fire units also assisted with traffic control and the application of Hi-Dry for fluids on the roadway.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Virginia State Police.
