Madison Heights, VA – The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department had a busy day on the last day of February, responding to multiple emergency calls throughout the community.
The first call came in at 10:07 AM for a motor vehicle accident at Seminole Plaza, where a car had collided with the front of a beauty salon. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
At 12:29 PM, the department was dispatched to Woodland Drive, where a homeowner's brush fire had spread to a neighbor's yard on Oakland Drive. Firefighters quickly contained the fire to prevent further damage.
The third call of the day was at 2:13 PM to Shady Oak Drive for a structure fire. Upon arrival, fire units found a shed fully engulfed in flames, threatening the rear of the residence. Firefighters managed to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the home.
While clearing up from the shed fire, the department received a fourth call at 3:10 PM for a car versus telephone pole incident at the intersection of S Coolwell Road and Troy Lane. Firefighters responded promptly to the scene.
