On April 19, 2025, at 1:12 PM, the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Dixie Airport Road for a controlled burn. While personnel were responding to the station, dispatch advised that a shed was on fire as well. Engine 21, Engine 22, and Chief 2 responded to the scene.
Firefighter Esposito was the first to arrive and established command, advising that the shed was fully involved. Engine 21 was the first due engine to arrive on scene, and the bumper mount trash line was deployed. The shed and the grass surrounding it were quickly extinguished. Water was supplied to Engine 21 by Engine 22.
The homeowner had been burning brush behind the shed and left it unattended. The fire quickly got out of control, spreading to the shed and damaging the siding on the residence.
We would like to remind our citizens that there is currently a burn ban in effect. No outside fires can be started except between the hours of 4 PM and midnight |
